This year, our Summer Institute was designed to help teachers gain a fundamental understanding of inquiry-based science teaching and learning.  In this workshop, teachers engaged in their own science inquiry around a question about force and motion. From this firsthand experience, teachers were better able to understand the many benefits of this student-centered approach to learning science. Teachers were then able to identify a structure for planning science inquiry and learned how to make subtle shifts in their teaching as they move towards implementing science inquiry in their classrooms.
